Romsley Village
During 2011 Romsley Village underwent the first stage in a regeneration project carried out by a group of local businessmen.
An existing commercial structure was to be developed and eventually result in a number of new businesses opening in a new central hub for the vibrant village. The vision of the area was the phased development of business and manufacturing opportunities on a low density high quality landscaped site.
Planning
Midland Shopfronts Ltd was heavily involved in the planning process, advising on the location of commercial units and allocating sufficient floor space to each business. Prior to operations commencing, a full survey of the existing structure was implemented, resulting in the undertaking of removal and demolition. Plans were drawn up with a time scale for project completion as well as a waste management strategy enabling the costs to be kept minimal.
The Development
The first phase of development saw aluminium shopfronts and powder coated roller shutters assembled to size within the manufacturing facility at Midland Shopfronts, constructed to a high quality and rigorously checked for quality and strength. The specification was as follows:
- A combination of perforated and brick bond roller shutters
- Security shutters for units with rear access
- Electric remote controlled systems for each roller shutter installed
- Aluminium powder coated shopfronts specified for each business
- Automatic entrance systems to enhance foot flow
- Toughened security glass for all front facing units
- Security grills and voice systems for 24 hour commercial units
Strength and Durability
Once the fitting process was complete systematic security checks were employed ensuring the strength of the finished installation. Quality control checks were also carried out on each installation confirming its safety and long term durability.
